Mission Statement

Weakley County Center for Adult and Continuing Education is dedicated to empowering undereducated adults of all racial and ethnic backgrounds and assisting them to achieve economic self-sufficiency.  Furthermore, our mission is to provide the educational environment which will allow opportunities for maximizing the potential of all the citizens of Weakley County for assuming their roles as contributing members of a complex and changing society.

Lula and Ronnie do everything together, from getting their GEDs to working in the same facility.  They are, of course, sisters.

Heather Vanderveer, 2007 GED graduate, Howard Allen, 2006 GED graduate, Diane Roberts, 2003 GED graduate, Joel Martin, 2010 GED graduate, and Miranda Butts Irvine, 1999 GED graduate, were able to secure employment after earning a GED.  Heather works as a Wal-Mart department head; Howard Allen is employed by Weakley County Schools in the maintenance department at the ALC; Diane Roberts is an educational assistant at Dresden Elementary School; Joel Martin works in auto mechanics; and Miranda Butts Irving is the office manager of the Roadrunner Driving Academy.

Randy Frazier, Director of Weakley County Schools, boasts that the Weakley County School system has one of the best Adult Basic Education programs in the state of Tennessee.  “We are preparing our adult learners for transitioning into the labor market or higher academic or vocational training.  We are reaching higher levels of learning every day.”

"Hitch your wagon to a star and the sky is the limit" is the school motto that is painted on the wall in the Center commons is a reminder to all students that there is no limit to what one can accomplish is he/she will only believe in his/her abilities and strive to succeed.

 

Excited adult graduates ride in the Iris Festival Parade, Dresden, Tennessee, proudly proclaiming their accomplishments by wearing their caps, gowns, and displaying GED NOW sign on the side of their car.

Welcome to the Weakley County Adult Learning Center’s GED Program!  We want to congratulate you on your decision to pursue your education.  Our purpose is to assist you toward your educational goals, and we hope your attendance here will be a pleasant and positive experience.

 

Please feel free to contact your instructor or one of the staff if you have any questions or concerns.  Our office phone number is 731 – 364 – 5481; our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Individuals are typically striving to earn a GED, prepare for college, obtain a better paying job, or just refreshing their skills.  Remember, whatever the case, we are committed to helping you achieve that goal!  I want to commend you on taking an important step on the pathway to higher education and a successful career.

        The WCCACE has open enrollment; however, please call and schedule your initial visit to the center.  Prepare to stay long enough to complete registration forms, the Locator test, and the TABE test.  You may begin classes immediately.

 

          The location closest to our center that offers the GED test is the University of Tennessee Martin .  In order to take the GED at UTM, all applicants must pass an OPT (official practice test) administered at the WCCACE.
