leaders and student representatives. The council acts in an advisory
capacity for the program and sponsors all extra-curricular activities, including
graduation exercises that are held the second Sunday in June each year.

The
Advisory Council welcomes four new members this year. The new members include Mr. Tommy Mount, MTD;
Dannyelle Williams, Hamilton-Ryker; Eunice Ransom,

Executive
Board on the Advisory Council: (Left to Right): Mr. Marvin Flatt, Director-at-Large; Dannyelle
Williams, Public Relations Director; Mr. Gene Price, President; Pattie Nutting,
Secretary; and Melinda Goode, Treasurer (not pictured).

"Hitch
your wagon to a star and the sky is the limit" is the school motto that is
painted on the wall in the Center commons is a reminder to all students that
there is no limit to what one can accomplish is he/she will only believe in
his/her abilities and strive to succeed.
As a climax to the Adult Education Week observance, there was a flag dedication ceremony held at the Center on April 12, 2006. This dedication, sponsored by the Adult Learning Center Advisory Council, was in recognition and appreciation of our students and staff who are dedicated to the preservation of our liberty by service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Troy Jones, Computer Instructor, and Bradley Rich, Computer & AE Instructor, were staff members who served along with several of our graduates. An Honor Guard representing National Guard Units from Paris, Union City, and Jackson conducted the ceremony with Rusty Taylor, also a veteran of this war, giving the special dedication. Special Patriotic music was performed by the Dresden High School Chorus under the direction of Blair Chadwick.

Excited adult graduates ride in the Iris Festival Parade, Dresden, Tennessee, proudly proclaiming their accomplishments by wearing their caps, gowns, and displaying GED NOW sign on the side of their car.

Students, faculty, and staff at the Adult Learning Center raise money for Relay for Life. Special recognition is given to Michael Barner, a former student and graduate of the ALC, who lost his leg to bone cancer. Michael, center, is shown with the team captains and his mother Mary Boyd.

Weakley County Nursing Home employee Brittany Rich is shown receiving a check for Relay for Life from Mary Boyd and her son Michael.

The bulletin boards in the front lobby of our facility reflect the pride in our school system, our programs, and our students.
